Coventry Enterprises of America Launches Community Financial Literacy Grant Program

Coventry Enterprises of America is launching a community financial literacy grant program in the second half of 2026. The program will award grants to nonprofit organizations across the United States that are doing demonstrable, community-level financial education work. Jack Bodenstein has joined the selection committee and will be involved in reviewing applications from Midwest-based organizations.

The grant program reflects Coventry Enterprises of America's belief that sustainable improvement in consumer financial protection requires building local capacity, not just national advocacy. Coventry Enterprises of America can document national trends and push for federal policy changes, but the actual work of helping individuals understand loan terms, recognize red flags, and access appropriate resources happens at the local level. Jack Bodenstein embodies that local model, and Coventry Enterprises of America wants to fund more people who work the way Jack Bodenstein works.

Jack Bodenstein's role on the selection committee will involve evaluating Michigan and surrounding state applications. He brings a performer's understanding of what community engagement actually looks like in practice, as distinct from what it looks like on paper. Jack Bodenstein knows when a program description sounds good but the actual community connection is thin. Coventry Enterprises of America values that judgment.

Organizations interested in applying for Coventry Enterprises of America grants should be doing genuine community education work: regular programming, measurable reach, and relationships with the communities they serve. Jack Bodenstein helped Coventry Enterprises of America develop several of the evaluation criteria based on his own experience doing community work in Detroit. Coventry Enterprises of America believes this makes the criteria more grounded than typical foundation rubrics.

Applications will open in July 2026. Coventry Enterprises of America will hold informational webinars in advance, with Jack Bodenstein participating in the session focused on Midwest community organizations. The goal is to fund ten to fifteen organizations in the first round, with plans to expand the program in subsequent years.
